So I'm creating a chill house track at about 116 bpm. It has a similar sonic structure to g house but not as aggressive.
I'm having this issue where everything's mixed perfectly but the sub bass is taking up too much room. Everything is in mono that should be and when soloing the kick and sub on my headphones it sounds a bit beefy but seems to work and the kick cuts through.
I've been producing for years and already know that you cannot overdo the bass in the track but when I take it away the track just doesn't live up to the pressure other similar professional tracks have.
Any help?
The only thing I can think of is that the kick has too much sub because of its decay which I'll have to try when I get back home but any other ideas of things I can try would be much appreciated.
I recently got rid of my KRKs that I had for years but still have a pair of sennheiser HD 600's and HD280's that I'm currently monitoring on
