Hey guys,
I know many of you choose their kicks, snares and hi-hats very carefully and I totally respect you for that. I myself am a bit more on the songwriting than production side of things and when I write songs I really like plug-ins that get me going. Addictive Drums 2 is one of these plug-ins.
I'm not getting anything out of recommending the XLN Audio stuff, I just love their products: https://www.xlnaudio.com/
Addictive Drums is of course mainly a live drums plug-in but I found it to be pretty useful in more electronic music as well. By using the Reel Machines AdPak you're given many different electronic drumsets that can also be tweaked in a lot of different ways inside the plug-in. With AD2 come many patterns that you can insert into your production by drag & drop. That provides a pretty liquid workflow.
When writing songs I usually choose a drumset I like the sound of, drop several cool patterns into my DAW and then just jam away with my guitar or hardware synths and pretty quickly I'll have something to work with.
It's certainly not for everyone but since I use AD2 now for some time and it sparked many cool ideas for me and my band I thought I should pay my respects and tell you about it. Check it out and decide for yourself! It's cheap atm. ;-)
