I'm trying to use dropbox + reaper to collaborate over the internet. It's working okay after we made sure to use the same plugins and versions, but we're running into problems with samples. I'm saving the project using the setting to copy audio files into the directory, which works for audio directly in reaper, and the reaper sampler, but not for Poise, Grace, or Kontakt (and probably most sampler VSTs). In Kontakt we both have the same instrument on our computers, but every time the other person works on it, they have to choose their folder to search for the instrument. A similar thing happens with poise and grace, but we've saved the kits in the dropbox directly. Any idea what would be a good way to work around this?
What we're doing at the moment is we have our own versions of each project and only save to those, and only open the other person's version read-only, and copy across changes we want. Unfortunately it involves a lot of reopening to keep it up to date if we're working on them at the same time, and every time requires re-searching all the samples for several different plugins, which gets very annoying very quickly.
