So, I just noticed that quiet a lot heavily compressed music actually peaks above 0dB, which seems weird because people say that you shouldn't do that (at least not in the production stage). The peaks seem to be there still and can be seen if the volume of the audio file is decreased. Does anyone actually know why people do this and does it have any benefits? I can't really hear any difference in the audio quality after reducing the volume, so is there really a point amplifying the volume past 0dB at all?
