I picked up the new MacBook Pro and LG UltraFine 5K for use in a new studio setup. I initially setup 2 Yamaha HS80M's running unbalanced into the headphone port on the Mac. With the monitor plugged in there is a very noticeable audio disturbance. Much worse when you move the mouse. I plugged in my Komplete audio 6 using balanced cables thinking that would solve it. Nope. Sent the monitor back to LG, and when it came back the problem has been noticeable reduced (They put in more shielding). Time to debug a bit more, so I plug in the Mac's power, and the issue goes away. It is the monitor powering the Mac that is the issue. Also, if I plug the audio 6 in to the monitor there is no problem. It is only with the USB-C ports on the MacBook when the monitor is supplying the power. I am going to try a new better USB-C cable to see if this helps, but I am not crossing my fingers. If you are thinking about the 5K monitor I think I would pass and go for one or two of the 4k model or a different brand all together.
