I am aware that some producers swear by producing in certain keys for certain genres. For example, I've heard that for bass heavy genres such as trap and dub step etc are always translated best when they are written in either D, E or F, sometimes G as this helps with the bass more.
Is this really true? Are most dub step tracks really written in F (I haven't had time to check) but doesn't that make it boring for everyone, because some keys really do give off a certain emotive quality - or at least that's how I know it to work in classical music.
