So let me preface this with a little backstory, I've been producing on and off (mainly neuro/dnb/dubstep/riddim, ergo hard hitting bass heavy genres) for the past 5ish years, having breaks in between, some a couple months, this last one nearly a year.
My dad was a trance DJ so I grew up with electronic music, I started producing when I was 14, I always have been eclectic so I tried my hand at everything the first year was basically me learning everything about my daw, mixing, creating unique sounds and riff's etc.
I found out I love making unique sounds and was big into dubstep so that is what I mainly focused on.
Now I've been out of it for a year, and in that year techno has really grown on me, and as most of you know, techno and dubstep couldn't be further away from one another in the EDM world, I also started spinnin' and for the most part it's techno/deep house/minimal.
but now I'm lost on what the actual fuck I should focus on making / learning, I mean, do whatever makes you happy and all that, but let's be honest, everyone who has found their "voice" is deeply rooted in one specific style of music, I dare you to name one DJ/producer that makes techno/minimal/deep house and dubstep/dnb... Yeah.
Right now I'm just fucking about and mainly learning how to produce techno, and even though I love going to techno raves, and spinning techno, I slightly (still) prefer producing hard hitting bass genres...
any input of you lot would be much appreciated! Cheers
