I was wondering is there any special tips/tricks beside layering to make a song sound fuller without that having much elements in it.

Right after 0:38 when the 'drop' hits, I can only hear a kick/bassline, the main lead (flute-like) and some other drum elements, so how can you achieve something like this ?
