Hey everyone! I'm just a beginner in producing, and I've been working on a project now for about 3 weeks and my only struggle is staying in key.
The track I am making is supposed to be D#, all my notes in my midis are all within that key and my kicks etc are all D# but upon anaylzing it in serato it actually comes out to B Minor.
That probably is funny for you guys haha, I was a little shocked when I saw it as I was really trying to stay in key.
Anyway, I think I've figured the problem, now, I hope you will all try and help me with this, but its a bit embarrsing. I was under the impression that to change the key of a sample, each 100 cents down or up would bring you down or up the piano.
So I thought that a Vocal Bed sample (love you KSHMR) that is F would be D# by lowering the pitch by 200 cents. Well, that isnt the case (and i assuming most producers are cringing at me now) as Serato did not identify it as D#
So this kinda pissed me off, but I really really hope I can just learn how to properly change the key and move on, its always been my struggle, send a track to a producer and they reply with "not in key bro!" Its always the thing I stuggle most with on, probably because I dont know how to play Piano.
I hope you guys can help me on this issue, I feel "dumb" asking it, but I am struggling to find answers. I just want to know how to change a samples key easily.
Thank you for reading.
Edit : Would like to add I am using FL Studio 12.
