I've been trying to learn a lot about electronic music production these past few months. I've mostly been watching Manak1n's Mastering EDM w/Logic Pro X videos, which give a really nice amount of conceptual knowledge regarding production, but leave me a bit confused when I start trying to produce something myself.
I'm not sure how to approach the process of producing. Here's what I've been trying to do:
-
Think of a melody and enter it into a MIDI region
-
Come up with chords/bassline.
-
Put in drums.
-
Find suitable patches for melody/bass
-
???
I don't know where to go from there. I know I should develop my melody, add new parts (harmonic or countermelodic) and FX, but how would it be best to do that?
Also – could you recommend me videos of people producing electronic music? I suppose I have a decent enough amount of knowledge that at this point it would also help to watch someone who's experienced produce. Of course, it would be great if they were using Logic Pro X because that's my DAW of choice. Thanks!
