Why is it so hard for me to construct a decent sound. Take for instance drum kits that I build. I feel like I have 2 options- either using a full drum kit someone else built and sounding good but generic, or piecing mine together from a bunch of random samples, and having a sound that is unique but ultimately not pleasant on the ears. I want to stand out from other producers, and I know that having your own unique sample library can help achieve that, but at what point should I just give up spending hours tweaking a drum hit, and just focus on the beat/song as a whole. What do most successful producers do? Is it just a TON of trial and error? I'll reference a thousand snares against a track before finally realizing that the initial snare from the pre-built drum kit sounds the best. Is it shameful to use drum kits built by someone else? Same question for synth presets
