Long story short, my M40x just broke.
I've had absolutely no complaints with the sound quality, and would easily buy them again for that reason, but seeing as they only lasted 2 1/2 years (admittedly, with pretty heavy use) I was wondering if there was a better option.
The other m-series headphones are disqualified, since they have the same design flaw*, and anways, if I wanted an m-series headphone I'd just buy another m40x because I like the frequency response.
I'm looking for something:
- With a flat frequency response
- Durable (3+ year lifetime)
- Between $80-100
- over-ear
I'm willing to compromise some on the price, but don't want to go far over $100.
Are there any good options? Or is the lifetime of my headphones pretty average, making the M40x the best choice.
*The design flaw being the hinges connecting the earpieces to the extendable metal band.
