Hi, /r/edmproductions,
I seem to be experiencing quite vicious voice dropouts with Kontakt 5. Strangely, with two entirely different libraries, at the same time (Cinematic Strings 2 and LA Scoring Strings 2).
I have a "peak", a strong point in the piece, where all the strings (more specifically: two FC violins, solo viola, cello section, bass section, viola section; first two LASS 2, last three CS2) reach a mid-high range, close to full volume. Here's a screencap, to help visualize it.
However, when I play it back, the sound, which should play for about four to five seconds, plays for only one or two, before all the voices loaded experience a full stop. With the exception of two (the cellos and the basses, for no apparent reason), which can be roughly seen here; I've triple-checked the instruments range, so, I assure you: This is not a "violins can't play this high" problem, it's definitely a drop in the voices.
The few threads I've seen that address similar problems address it vaguely, and none of the fixes seem to apply to my case. I'm not running the demo version, by the way;
Since we're talking about powerful libraries: Perhaps it's hardware related? This is my current bet, but I'd love to confirm it, somehow.
Just in case: I'm running an Intel i5-3330 3.00GHz with 8GB of RAM, Windows 10, no audio interface, and only a single MIDI keyboard plugged in.
tl;dr: A lot of instruments together playing at the same time, voice drops.
Do you guys have any idea to why this might be happening? If so, any ideas on how to fix it?
