Hey Guys,
I have been producing for 3 years now. I learned a lot of advanced techniques over the years but after a while a started to realize I lacked some knowledge of the basic stuff. Some simple gain staging, eq-ing, compressing. I learned a lot from Graham from the Recording Revolution. But his tutorials focus a lot on live recorded instruments and I use a lot of sample based drums and vst instruments for my productions (Trap, Hip Hop, Pop kinda style). Because of this I got kinda stuck on the compression part.
Let's take the kicks I use for example. They are already quantized, they have a fixed velocity so why would I compress them? It's one of many questions I have been asking myself and I realised I want to get more information on mixing for EDM (for lack of a better word) to dive deeper in this subject, but then focussed on my genre.
I found the following EDM courses by doing my research but I can't decide which one I should do.
I found Mixing EDM by Matthew Weiss, MixMaster 201 by Daniel Wyatt and also heard about Eddie Bazil.
Would you guys recommend any of these or do you found another course to be even better? I would love to know your opinions!
Thanks
Daan
