Hi, I am not new into music (circa 20 yrs playing piano, messing with synths, teaching music theory and composing), but now I am trying to learn some EDM-oriented techniques and tools (a very humbling experience, one should say). I see that most of my previous knowledge on synthesis, EQ, compression and signal processing has to be revamped into a new mindset, and as so I feel most of my tools of choice seem to be amateurish and non-specific.
I see a lot of folks here recommending Ableton, FL Studio as DAW, and synths like Serum and Sylenth, and Waves Plugins and Izotope stuff. Those are well proven and definitely professional, but to me they are a showstopper because of the price tag. I am essentially broke and living in a third-world country.
I want to try my hand at EDM, however, and would like to know about your experience with making music in the cheap. Recommendations are mostly welcome!
Edit: spelling.
