I've been trying to add guitar/rock elements into my tracks, however I'm having trouble fitting the guitar into the mix. No matter what, the guitar (especially rhythm/chugging) makes the mix way too muddy to the point where I can't use it. So far, the best results I've been able to achieve is recording a left/right take and grouping them, then centering the group slightly with Utility, and then cutting some of the lows. Not sure if this is a good way to go about it, but it's the best I've been able to do so far. I'm using Guitar Rig 5, so the input itself is clean and sounds good by itself.
What do you guys do to fit guitars into your mix? Any specific techniques, cuts/boosts, or processing that I should be aware of?
