Dunno how many folk around here use Cakewalk Sonar (it was my go-to DAW for most of my rock production stuff until recently, but I'm using Reason more these days)...

Gibson have announced they're basically shutting up shop on the Cakewalk side of things - no more development on Sonar, no updates. Very, very disappointing, as a long-time Sonar user (Cakewalk Pro Audio 9 was my first 'proper' DAW).
This might not be the end though - I could see someone coming in and offering to buy out the Cakewalk arm, but I have a funny feeling the vultures are circling and waiting to see what happens with Gibson as a whole, as things have not gone all that well for them the last few years. I imagine folk will be hoping to snag some intellectual properties at 'fire sale' prices if Gibson gets the heavy end of the hammer.
