The three songs I am referring to are: 1) Eric Prydz - Breathe https://soundcloud.com/eric-prydz/eric-prydz-breathe?in=eric-prydz/sets/opus-11
Vs.
2) Astrix and Avalon - Moonshine https://soundcloud.com/avalon/astrix-and-avalon-moonshine
Vs.
3) MODO - Eins Zwei Polizei https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dSy2DcATYUo
I can tell each song has a distinct kick. The Prydz kick seems very punchy with a "quicker" sub underneath it. The Astrix and Avalon song kick seems to have a high p;itched "click" overlying a lower pitched kick. The Last kick is less punchy. I have a few questions about these:
1) How would I describe these three kicks in musical terms?
2) Is there a way to make these kicks using additive synths, such as the built in operator in ableton?
3) Is there a classic name associated with each kick? Are they layered?
4) How is fine tuning each kick different, esp. in regards to compression?
5) Where can I gain more knowledge regarding the theory behind kicks and percussion?
Any help would be great. Any tutorials on these three would also be grand. Thanks for all your help!
