with black Friday approaching, I am probably going to pull the trigger on a laptop in the days ahead and was wondering if I could tap you guys for some more knowledge....
The laptop is only for gigging, not production. My desktop (production) is Windows so I would like to get a Windows laptop.
I would like to spend around $800 or so max. I know I should get SSD hard drive and at least 8GB of ram (should be enough as I will only be queuing up ableton clips, though I do run some random MIDI chains than can use up a fair amount of resources). That said, beyond the Hard Drive and RAM (and I guess i5+ processor), what should I be looking for?
will all windows laptops around $800 come with the same quality audio card? what do you guys think of this XPS on sale? (will supposedly be $800 on black Fri). 128GB SSD, seems kinda small, no?: XPS
just found this one on a separate thread, looks cheaper and similar specs: ACER
Is there anything I need to be aware of in terms of the laptop's audio output so I ensure I am able to properly interface with club/lounge/gallery PA systems? I don't foresee myself DJing per se (only performing my tracks via ableton), so probably don't need a headphone line.
Also, could anyone suggest a good piece of hardware to launch ableton clips with some assignable nobs etc? I have a first gen Push but would like something more suited for performing....
