My default project has an audio effects rack on every channel. In every rack there is a chain dedicated to the dry signal, reverb, delay, ect.
When I️ get to the mixing stage of a project I️ add more chains for things like parallel compression. All delicately mixed in relation to the dry signal.
Instead of duplicating my tracks 5 times and grouping them I️ have just one track with several chains in the audio effects rack.
I️ originally got the idea from a “cleanest reverb ever” YouTube tut. Now I️ use it for most everything. It feels too good to be true, having a final mix down with less than 10 tracks. I’m sure it exists somewhere, but I️ have never seen a tut that uses an audio effect rack for effects and parallel processing like in my set up.
My headphone and speaker situation is less than ideal so it’s hard to tell if there is a difference in sound quality whether using audio effect racks or duplicating tracks and doing it the clutterful tedious way.
Is anyone else using audio effect racks in this way? Does anyone object to this method? If so. Why?
