I've been producing my whole life, but some new ventures I've taken on are leading me to run audio in new ways. I need a super lightweight, rather affordable DAW for routing some simple audio signals. I've got a berringer 4x4 rinky tink interface and a 2gbram laptop brand new. The only reason I'm not running a hardware mixer is to add some slight "static" effect paired with a tight curve at 1k to add a phone/1820's can mic feel via VST. I've used Reason, FLP, cubase, nuendo, and currently ableton. I think these are all great and each have their own unique advantages, however I need something simple, trainable in a day, and very easy on the CPU. My current thinking is reaper will deliver best bang for buck, but wanted to get a second opinion. Thanks in advance!
