Do you go for loud and not care about dynamics? If so, explain.
Do you care about dynamics and don't mind your tracks being quieter? Again, explain if so.
I'm just wondering what the general opinion is for the whole loudness war around here. Really curious. Personally, I try to go the dynamic route... but at the same it's like no one in the electronic music scene wants dynamics. They want heavily compressed or loud music, generally speaking. I've seen hyper-compressed tracks get comments like "great dynamics" when the track has close to no dynamics whatsoever.
I could argue all day about why I prefer dynamics, but I'm wondering about why people would prefer loudness. I want to know the upsides to loudness because obviously if most of the industry is doing it there's gotta be some kind of benefit to it.
