Hi guys,
I'm currently looking for a new midi-keyboard. I'm a student living in a small (20m²) room. I own a NECTAR LX49. It's a great piece of hardware which I'm still using. But I'm looking for something a little more small. I want a small midi keyboard that I can put on my desk easily, while still having enough space left for my mouse and keyboard.
I'm thinking of buying a midi-keyboard with 25 keys, that'll be enough to play some simple melodies and play with the sounds I'm creating. When I want to make some more serious melodies / arrangements, I can use my LX49.
About me: - I've been making music for about 5 years. - I already own a Novation Launchpad S, which I use in combination with Ableton. - I'm mostly using FL STUDIO, but I'm slowly trying to learn Ableton Live.
I have found a few keyboards that look really interesting:
- The AKAI APC KEY 25: This controller looks a bit silly, but I'm impressed with the Ableton functionalities. Too bad it doesn't have a pitch wheel.
- The Arturia MiniLab: I'm really loving the look of the keyboard, it looks more serious than the previously mentioned AKAI. It also has a pitch fader! But I'm guessing it isn't as neatly integrated in Ableton.
- The Reloop Keyfadr: I like the look of this keyboard. I also like the tight Ableton integration, maybe even more than the AKAI.
- The Novation Launchkey Mini MK2: This keyboard has thight Ableton integration, maybe the best of them all (I don't know, I just know that NOVATION makes a lot of Ableton products).
- Maybe you have another suggestion? I'm always open to suggestions! :) As long as it stays under about €100.
The Arturia Minilab is the only one without a close Ableton integration, but I think it looks the nicest. I also own a Launchpad S, so maybe I don't really need the pads on the Ableton midi keyboards?
What keyboard do you recommend, and why?
Thanks in advance! :)
