Wavo is currently hosting a remix comp for Rain Man's new track, (here if you're interested) this is the first time I've used the site & I'm just getting weird vibes from the contest & the site as a whole. I thought it would be a good way to get my name out there since I very recently decided to actually start making music under a name & standing out is kind of difficult.
As soon as you make an account the site asks if you'd like to pay to "boost" your tracks & increase your "reach" on the site, whatever the hell that means. I submitted a remix last night (won't say which is mine.) & it's sitting at an okay position right now but the people at the top of the contests are doing suspiciously better.
The artist that currently sitting at number 1 submitted his remix 4 hours ago & already somehow has 25 likes but only 23 plays. It's not like he's a large name with devoted fans flocking to vote, I checked his Soundcloud out of curiosity & he's currently sitting at 80 followers. Similar situation with the track in second place.
In MY opinion both tracks sound about as predictable as Future Bass can be so I don't think people are just falling in love with their tracks which is why I feel that something isn't adding up.
I hope that I'm not coming off as a jealous person because I'm truly not, I make music as a hobby in my spare time between school & work & there are many many ways to seek exposure. To be fair Wavo does say that tracks with more likes won't automatically win the contest but it can't hurt either. I just want to know if attempting these contests is just a waste of my time because people are "cheating" by paying to win them & I refuse to do so.
