I'm curious about a few things.
Take their new track "Meta" for instance, or Jason Ross's track "Valor". The drops for these tracks are huge walls of sound, but I imagine they're not super complicated underneath.
The chords are just one MIDI copied to different synths and voiced differently (remove a line here, change an octave there). Then the bassline moves with the chords instead of staying on one note. There's like 3-4 other instruments that play during the drop, and they're all both simple and complementary.
Note I could be talking about either track here. What I'm trying to get at is, how darn simple are the MIDI for some of these tracks? Then, the wall-of-sound illusion comes from layering the saws, bass and lead quite heavily?
If someone wants to show me their soundcloud and or talk about the track I'd appreciate it.
Also lol alex klingle has 9 layers in this bassline https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TBoRZS-Jcxs (seen around 2:40)
