I believe I have Thomson RCA RS2657 speakers. They look like these, not these, which is confusing since both show up when I search the name, and they share the same radio/CD player/etc.
On one hand, I've heard a lot of artists mention that a good pair of monitors is essential and can really improve the quality of your work. My current speakers also seem to have very little sub-response based on feedback I've gotten from others. Once, my sub was entirely missing and I didn't notice. I tried making it louder on a later track, and apparently it ended up sounding really bad.
On the other hand, I'm still intermediate at best, so maybe it's my ears and skills at fault and monitors wouldn't help. In addition, my speakers/sub are just sitting on my desk/floor, and my room is totally untreated. I'm not sure how well I could realistically treat it even if I tried, since it's also living space.
Does anyone have any thoughts? I've looked at the PreSonus Eris E5 and KRK Rokit RP-5 G3s as potential options.
