I phrased the title a bit strangely, but let me clarify.
I've been messing with edm production for a few years now, but over those years I've only ever released one track, albeit very amateurishly made. I would be making more tracks at this point but whenever I try, these are the things that occur.
-
Get idea, think it sounds very neat, "I could make this".
-
Load up DAW.
-
Make a decent (roughly) 8 bar part of a track.
-
Spend about an hour figuring out how to expand it.
-
Get burned out.
-
Scrap the idea, the project sits on my computer for months on end.
-
Eventually delete it.
The question I'm trying to ask is 'how can I prevent immediately getting burned out shortly after starting a project?' as this is the main thing keeping me from continuing projects. If I really try to push myself to work on it, eventually I get to a point where I writhe hearing the project any more, making me even more disinterested in continuing it.
