I'm really new to the realm of electronic music production (as in one year ago I was using nothing but presets and stock samples and I didn't know what the word 'reverb' meant), and I've gathered a bunch of different tips and pieces of advice about production. I don't know how good some of these sources are, so I was hoping for some help verifying. (I make dubstep and future bass)
- Everything should have a small amount of reverb
- For most purposes, never make an EQ change bigger than 6dB
- Highpass everything
- Forget about mastering
- You should bounce tracks down to audio
- You should keep cymbals and hi-hats low in the mix
If there are any common misconceptions about production, please let me know.
