One barrier I'm running into with making my music sound polished is using a side chained compressor. I'm fully aware of the technique and have nailed it a few times. One sound I like a lot is instead of the pumping happening on the upbeats 2 & 4, it has a very quick attack/release that dips just on the kick drum hits and returns right back to it's initial volume. This is especially cool when the kick is kind of syncopated and creates some interested rhythms in the sidechained synth part. The problem I have is that the compressor isn't releasing fast enough, even with the release and attack set to zero. How would you go about this problem? Should I create a new kick drum trigger track with a really short sound to act as the trigger? Could I adjust the knee or something? I've tried a couple different compressors like the CLA-76 and the FF-MB
