Hi guys, i've been wanting to start producing music for some time now but the thing holding me back is I don't know what to start doing/learning first. I don't have much of a musical background so this so very new to me. I've seen tutorials on Ableton and FL Studio, which I have a rough idea on how to use them, but I still don't know which one I like to use more.
I've seen YouTube tutorials on for example 'how to make a rap beat in ableton' or 'best way to create melodies in FL Studio' but none of these have got me anywhere. Everytime I open ableton or FL Studio I just stare at the screen thinking of what to do, or I try to write a melody but it sounds like total shit. Then I'm bogged down since i'm so overwhelmed on what to use or what to learn first, there are so many options for sounds and such, I get completely lost.
I want to learn music to have a creative outlet and express myself through sound, but I have so much trouble trying to actually do it.
I get mad at myself when I see people my age making dope ass songs on SoundCloud because I know I can do it, I just don't know how to approach it.
So tell me, what do I do?
