Hi all, I am looking for your assistance in picking the right Audio Interface for me. Right off the bat I want to say that I am as rookie as you can get when it comes to recording/production via a home studio. I have recorded an album (mostly piano/synth) with a band/professional studio before, but all the techy stuff was left up to the sound engineers etc. I am now looking to create a basic home recording setup, nothing expert level mind you, just something for experimenting with creating beats, sounds, synth layers etc. Basically I'm looking to pick up a new hobby and see where it takes me.
I have a Roland FP-7 Keyboard and am using a new half-decent PC. I have done a lot of research and one thing I've learned is: it seems like there's something negative to be said about nearly every single entry-level Audio Interface. Just when I think I've found the "right AI" for me, I find another page/youtube video where people are endlessly bashing it. My budget is ideally under $250
Based on my research, my two finalists are as follows:
-Presonus Audio Box USB 2x2 (chosen for price, MIDI capability, decent quality). It runs at about $140 Canadian on Amazon.ca. https://www.amazon.ca/PreSonus-AudioBox-USB-Recording-Interface/dp/B00154KSA2/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8
-Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 USB 2.0 (currently about $90 more expensive than the Presonus, but I can snag one via a current sale from a local music store. usually sells for about $150 more than the Presonus on Amazon.ca) http://tomleemusic.ca/162751
I also considered the Steinberg UR22MKII for a short while, but hold the other two a smidge above it after comparing reviews - https://www.amazon.ca/Steinberg-UR22MKII-2-Channel-USB-Interface/dp/B017MVUAHM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1483034449&sr=8-1&keywords=Steinberg+UR22MKII
Anyways, can you please give me any recommendations of yours on quality, latency experiences, or anything else you think I should know. I apologize, I'm sure this comes across as super amateur in my wording etc, I really appreciate any assistance you can give me. Thank you
TL:DR - recommend a beginner an audio interface under $250. Thanks
