Alright, so I've got this mix and the playback sounds great on everything besides this high end pair of earbuds that I have. When listening to it at low volume it sounds good but as I start to turn it up, the track (specifically the kick and snare drum) begin to distort/flatten. Is there a reason this is happening? I've got enough headroom in my mix and there aren't any frequencies that jump out at me, it just sounds distorted/flat. Obviously there is an issue here, has anyone had something similar happen to them and if so, how did you remedy it? Is it possible that my transients are too sharp or the snare and kick are too loud compared to the rest of the mix? I know without the track it's impossible to tell, but are there some techniques I could try to possibly fix this?
