So I've been kinda struggling with coming up with good melodic ideas for different parts of my songs. Let's say I'm making a song with a verse, build-up and a drop. And I'm using just a clean piano vst to come up with ideas. I come up with an idea for the verse, let's say a harmony and a melody. Then I make the song all the way to the drop and everything works fine. And now I wanna have a drop that uses the same baseline but I want the melody to be different.
And this is what I find difficult. To nail the different part melodically. Like should I come up with some kind of an idea for the drop in the beginning while playing the piano preset? Or how do you guys do it?
I just feel like it's so discouraging to create the beginning of the song and have everything working and then just bang my head to the wall cause I can't make the drop sound cool. And it goes vice versa. If I create a cool drop, then I don't know where to move on from there. So how do you come up with ideas for different parts of the song? While your producing or before u even start laying the structure down u have the main ideas down?
Thanks!
