I'm attempting to be able to live broadcast microphone and Ableton Live audio simultaneously to a single input on my PC for group call purposes, while maintaining the ability to hear Ableton and windows output (such as group call), but not my own mic output. Below, I have detailed my hardware and an almost working attempt at a solution.
Scarlett 2i4 (2 in, 4 out)
--headphones should only play back Ableton and PC output
--windows audio session recording should only capture mic and Ableton output
I'm a dummy and at first attempted connecting a mic to input 1 on the 2i4, and Ableton mono to input 2 by routing channel 1/2 physical cable looped. Ableton runs on a ASIO driver that allows the 2i4 to output abletons audio at low latency on output 1/2, and windows can still use output 1/2 for audio service (so I can hear the output of ableton simultaneously with windows), but windows does not actually hear Ableton because it isn't running through windows audio. It was picking up both the mic and Ableton out and properly distributing them to the group call I was on, but then the issue was that windows audio was also looping back in so it created infinite feedback.
There's probably some simple way to do this, either software level or different cable routing, but I can't figure it out. As far as I understand, windows audio session will only accept one input at a time.
