Hey,
I’ve been searching for a short and nice sounding name for weeks, and even sought help here several times. I finally found something nice (Lusk) and only taken by one band that is like 20 years old and inactive. I was happy with it, released my first single under this name everywhere online.
But today when searching for my track on Apple Music, I noticed someone had just released a single under the exact same name. My name is pretty « generic » and simple, and because of this my track was first posted on the other band’s page on several stores, so I had to fix the issue. Now I have my unique artist page on most stores and even got my « Spotify for Artists » submission accepted, so everything was doing well... until today.
Funny thing, that artist currently has his two tracks posted on that same 20 year-old band page, so, like me, he might correct that soon and we’ll be 3 with the same name.
I’m really concerned cause I was happy of the name and logo I made for it, and also because I had my own Spotify artist account under this name. But now I feel « stolen ». Obviously it’s something that would have necessarily happened some day, I’m aware of this.
What do you guys advise me now? Ignore this guy and build a following under this name anyway?
Or change the name and start from zero? (Delete the track from stores, make a new mail adress and account for every single site I joined - SoundCloud, YouTube, Bandcamp, MixCloud, SumbitHub... - and ask for a new Spotify For Artists page)
I’m a bit confused right now. Hope you guys can help me making a choice. Thanks!
