I can only speak from my personal experience, but I've found that a vast majority of labels in the EDM world simply don't pay artists. For others, it's baked into their business plan to wait for artists to ask, which most dont.
I know we're not talking about a lot of money, but still notable names, so I'm curious of other people have had similar experiences.
Why do you think that is? Just like new artists, it appears that most independent owners simply didnt know what actually goes into running a label, especially as it relates to registering music with PROs, soundexchange, and the other royalty organizations.
What can we do to fix this?
