Sorry if this is the wrong place for this. /r/NIMassive and /r/softsynths are both pretty dead.
I was fucking around with Massive a bit today and made this patch, and I'm wondering if someone can help me understand some of its weird behavior. The patch is basically just a comb filter that sends its output through a pitch shifter then back into itself.
So first, why does this even produce sound? The oscillators and noise are all disabled.
Second, doing any kind of legato (hitting a note then hitting another one without releasing the first) eventually causes the patch to no longer produce sound with that number of simultaneous notes. So hitting just one note won't work, but hitting three at the same time will. Sometimes doing that enough will actually "fix" the problem, and I can go back to using one note at a time, but not always. A lot of the time I end up needing to completely unload and reload the instrument to fix it.
Why does this happen? Is it some kind of audio artifact that I'm amplifying with the feedback loop?
