I'm having issues with 808s that come from sample packs. Usually whats provided are top kicks and 808s. However, some 808s already have a lot of punch to them at the beginning and others obviously require top kicks.
When layering top kicks to 808s, whats the general process? I once heard NGHTMRE doesn't sidechain his 808s anymore, he just cuts out the relevant frequencies to fit his kick on top. How does he do this?
What frequencies are we meant to cut when paring a top kick with an 808? I'm really confused - and most YouTube videos are quite frankly terrible.
Thank you!
Edit: Also, some top kicks I've come across have this really weird panning or ADT effect. How to you even process these? Surely you can't have 60hz panned left and right.
