Hey guys, wondering how I should go about treating my room. Currently using a Rode NT1A for vocals, but just bought the SM7B due to the annoying harsh high frequency response of the Rode, still gonna use it, just for select recordings. Anyway, I can't seem to get top-notch quality recordings with it, I currently use a Focusrite 2i2, which is pretty solid for its price, however my vocals sound very wet, leading me to the conclusion that its an acoustics issue. I also have wooden floors :(, would getting a rug decrease the bass response? And how much of my roomspace would it need to cover? (only 18 sorry if i sound like a newbie lol)
Here's my setup, sorry for the mess hehe: https://imgur.com/a/4F1c4
Here's how I've got the vocals sounding with the NT1A, (im not advertising i promise) didn't do any layering, only some EQ, comp, reverb, the usual, plus a noise gate on there. (Also pitched my voice up like 1-2 semitones cause i still hate how it sounds lol) https://clyp.it/v21wmfhi and another example: https://clyp.it/fldwh3tp As you can hear, the vocal could be of better quality. Definitely a part of that is mixing (did it quickly), but I would really like to achieve better recordings. The NT1a is a great mic, but doesn't make the job easier lol.
Any advice on the cheapest most effective way to deal with this issue would be very helpful, thank you :)
