I'm wondering what's the viability of a laptop with a built in DAC capable of native ASIO is? (is it a cost/demand thing?) As minor of a convenience this could bring someone for a larger scale of production I would love if a mini PCI-E slot could be used or space for a HDD were to be substituted for an Audio Production DAC. (it's not like it needs cooling) Even if this were only a massdrop capable item I'd still save up for it.
Honestly I've been so tempted to find a broken focusrite solo mount it in a HDD space and desolder unnecessary ports/reroute useful ports to the side of a laptop I have lying around and dremel some ports on it.
I can see why this is not exactly friendly with being platform agnostic - but then again how often do you replace your laptop or share your usb Dac?
