Hi all!
I was just waking up, doing some writing, and started to wonder about what people look for when they download a sample bank.
I never use samples myself--it's all from the ground up--and that's my personal preference; but, I know a lot of people use them and am curious about what they look for.
To me, there's three ways of looking at it but I have no experience with what people would look for even in these categories:
1) Genre specific--where you are looking for samples commonly used in a genre. 2) Artist specific--where you are looking for samples that a specific artist has used. 3) General production specific--where you are looking for samples that are generic but are created in such a way that you can mold them with a bit more flexibility than a sample that has a lot of processing already done.
I don't use patches though, as I said, and wanted to ask the group what they look for, personally, when they are on the lookout for samples.
Thanks!
Happy producing!
