I learned more about gain staging from a recent post and the result is that I am mixing at lower volumes, which means that I have to turn up my monitors pretty loud to hear what's going on.
Today I loaded in a super shouty Instrument Rack I'd made and forgot to turn it down before playing it. It was so fucking loud I damned nearly shat out of my vagina
I'd rather that didn't ever happen again... is there any way to somehow limit the maximum volume so that I don't go deaf by the time I'm 30?
[edit] also, if I mix at low volumes in Ableton and then switch to another application, the volume of that application will be pant-shitting loud, too. Is there anything I can do about this?
