Illenium - Afterlife (ft. ECHOS)
At 2:14 exactly on the drop, the kick comes in and sounds like its the only thing making sound in that moment, followed by the release of every other part of the drop, which creates a 'ng' sound effect, and happens on the down beat of every bar. I know about sidechaining and that seems to be what happens one the 2, 3, and 4, but on the 1 how is the effect so much more exagerated? How would you recreate that (and also what type of kick sample is that because it sounds dope).
Additionally, at 2:11, leading into the drop, Illenium inserts different kind of atonal texture noises finally landing on a single note and then silence. How do you go about creating texture sound like that without tonality? Almost like a controlled radio static or something like that.
