I'm a young musician who is part of a development team for a video game, my primary responsibility is all sound related things and i am looking to bolster my current tools to accommodate what the project needs. (i know this isn't exactly EDM related but i know y'all know a bunch about synths.)
I am aware of several options for strong Versatile software synths but i really cant put a finger on whats going to best accommodate my desires, thus I'm hoping someone here can give me a hand.
What I'm looking for would be able to sound somewhat retro, but would also be capable of relatively polished modern synth sounds. (I realize these two specifications are a bit opposite and if anyone thinks it'd be best to go with 2 separate synths let me know). A very important requirement is having a somewhat large preset library available. this is because when writing i tend to find something close to what I'm imagining and than refine it from the preset. I'm really not trying to put massive amounts of effort into making my own presets for this project and this might be my #1 requirement.
A good reference track for a desirable synth aesthetic is Domina - Mire
I am also very interested in how the string sounds in This were achieved, if anyone knows it would be a huge help. In general I'm very interested in synthetic orchestra sounds though i don't even know how to go about asking how to find such a thing. I have googled around a bit with little success so far.
I'm really just seeking the wisdom of the web right now trying to learn and analyze my options so if anything come to mind at all share it and as much information about it as possible without being a drain on your day.
Thanks in Advance to any readers!
