I've recently started music producing (1 month and 4 days) around the Future Bass genre, with huge inspirations from Flume, Porter Robinson and Madeon. I'm able to make chord progressions away from the basic triads so, 7ths and 9ths with a few inversions with a mixture of minor and major. But I'm struggling to make the track having that certain catchy melody without having vocals used, I can't really get my hand on any vocals because there's no one really in my area or anyone that I know that can sing but that's still not the point and it's stressfull af because I want to be able to produce tracks without having to rely on vocals. For example the song Ezra by Flume

there's no vocals at all and he manages to make the whole song flow so well without becoming stale with a repetitive melody is there something I'm missing. I've bought theory books to start and I've watched half of the Sonic Academy future bass tutorials but they involve vocals as the main melody. Is there a specific way to go about it?
another good example would be Technicolor by Madeon

I really want to make electronic instrumental tracks like this but I just can't seem to get the catch part of the song and whenever I do think of a melody it lasts for like 4-8 bars and I can't think of how to develop it further into the track without it sounding awfully repetitive.
