Here's a track by a small producer:

Here's a track with the exact same vocals by KSHMR:

KSHMR used the same vocals, yet his track sounds so much better. The vocals aren't the only things that sound so rich. The guitar in the beginning also sounds freaking amazing.
I know that arrangement is a big aspect, as the sounds shouldn't all be rich, and be competing for space. Yet I do produce very minimalistic, with generally 3-5 things playing at once. My tracks never sound as clear, rich, and punchy as KSHMR's.
I know that KSHMR is a world level producer, probably with several engineers to help him. But what are they doing that makes it sound so great?
I've used techniques like parallel compression, or distortion tools to saturate or thicken up sounds. Maybe clipping is what I'm looking for? What do you guys do?
Also, people always say that to keep sounds from competing and sounding muddy, you should practically hone in on the fundamental frequencies of a sound, and bandpass EQ it in relation to the other sounds. But this really ruins the sound, making it sound very weak... Is this just bullshit advice that is spread by bad producers?
I think it's okay if you post songs from your soundcloud, it shouldn't be looked upon as self-promo in this context.
