Hello,
I recently had a collaboration release on a collective owned by a good friend of mine that isn't registered with a PRO (BMI, ASCAP, Etc.), and can't afford the publisher application fee at this time. The person I collaborated with desperately wants the song to be registered though ASAP.
We don't have a written contractual agreement, but are just informally splitting 50/50 (publisher/artists). The publisher is taking care of distribution and paying us artists.
Is there any way that we can register the song for my collaborators sake now without the publisher having to be involved since he's unable to afford the cost of applying? I'm hoping there may be a way considering like i said, we don't have a contractual agreement of any sort.
