Me and a few friends make beats in cubase/reason/fl studio and have bought 2 Akai LPK25 midi's in the past 3 years which have both broke in the exact same spot (USB port snaps off the circuit board and falls inside the midi)
The midi got moved around our small desk sometimes but not enough that it should break.. it must be a poor USB port design because I have seen some reviews on Amazon saying the same thing has happened to them (it's only soldered on 1 side, to the circuit board, no support holding the port when you push the cable in)
Now we could solder it and fix it, but we don't have a soldering iron shouldn't have to do this in the first place but we still have the midi's so maybe one day we will fix them but for now we need something simple, reliable and within budget
Our budget is tight because it's Christmas soon so we can only spend $125/£100 and we would like to buy as soon as possible, but I understand that some of the sales come on after Christmas to clear any left over Christmas stock so we may have more money/more options in January 2017
Our studio PC is Windows 10 - 64bit - I've been looking at the following midi devices on Amazon and if you have any experience using them I would like to hear your thoughts please
ALESIS Q49 | Keyboard Controller - http://amzn.eu/b2VBbHm
Alesis V-Mini | Portable 25-Key USB-MIDI Controller with Xpand Software - http://amzn.eu/5C7rAsr
MasterKey 25 MIDI Keyboard - Silver - http://amzn.eu/iAZEpvo
Korg NANOKEY2-BK 25 Key USB Controller - Black - http://amzn.eu/4frbrP2
Do you have any suggestions or recommendations?
Thank you :)
