So let me start by saying this, I'm not posting my track, if you'd like to hear it, please send me a DM, Id rather do that then jeopardize the mods pulling my post down.
My mastering is good, I am very comfortable with the results I can get out of my mixing and mastering skills. The problem is, I know I'm not the best, and I still want to learn, and be as teachable as much as I can to better myself. Here's the issue, My music sounds good on my study monitors, I've made it mono compatible so it sounds good on all mono speakers like my phone and such, my songs sound great on headphones... I have a sound system in my car and for some reason it doesn't produce the same results as a deadmau5 track in my car. Im very aware that car systems and at-home systems are two totally different things, but I don't see that as an excuse since professional producers can replicate flawless results in my car, yet I can't.
In my car, my songs kinda sound loose, not tight and stuck together, almost like the sound is mushy as opposed to tight. and if i walk outside my car, i can't hear any basses / synths, just my sub. On a professional track, i can still hear their synths and basses with the same volume as my song. The thing is though, on every other system or speaker, it's the exact opposite... my songs sound perfect.
Here's a few specs.
On my limiting i always average around -3.5 / -5 on gain reduction so my songs are somewhat consistent on volume
I DONT compress / group compress my synths which I think is my issue, but why does it sound nice on headphones? Wouldn't that be compensated for the limiting at the end though?
I steep curve LPF cut my master at 18kHz and roll off at 16kHz.
Other than that to me my masters sound fine, but to a veeeeeery slight minority, they say they find a bit of an issue with it.
Please if anybody is willing to help ill be more than grateful, I get a lot of people who listen to my songs and tell me something that is just wildly ignorant which makes no sense. I might not know everything, but i have a great understanding of how stuff works, so please if you are in the position in which you CAN help, I'm reaching my hand to you.
Thanks
