I've been producing electronic music for 3 years but could never answer this question. I know layering instruments may be a way to go but I wonder if there is another way to make my mix sound more full without layering instr. I also heard that compression may also make your mix more 'warm', but even though I always compress synth busses (I usually don't compress individual instruments), my mixes still sound very 'lightweight'. I tried increasing the sub/bass and that helped a bit but I know I shouldn't make the sub really high in volume otherwise other instruments will sound like they are in the back of the mix or far away. Any suggestions?
